The view ... paradise.

Our family had a wonderful vacation at The Mirage. Let's start with the positives. The view of the beach is unbeatable and access is literally steps away from the sand. The deck furniture was ample and comfortable. Lovely decor. The furniture in the living room was exceptional...huge sofa and a good number of comfortable chairs. Huge dining room table. The beds were comfortable. Loved having the chairs/umbrella service provided. The separate kitchen and living space on the lower level was nice especially having younger children in the group...our families were able to spread out (nice for early risers and night owls). The location to Rosemary and Alys Beach was a short bike ride away. This property would have received 5 stars had it not been for a few things... We reached out to Benchmark two times before our arrival and double confirmed that the pool would be heated. We know that the weather is cool in October and no one likes swimming in cold water. We got to the house and the request for the pool heat had slipped through the cracks. Benchmark was never able to come through with sending out anyone to turn on the pool heater because "only one third party company is assigned to this house" and we were not able to get on the third party's schedule during the 6 days we were there. This for us was beyond unacceptable! Certainly with all of hundreds of pools on 30a there should be a company that could be called in as a backup. Contrary to some other reviews, this house IS next to a public beach access. Our stay was over Fall Break so there were a lot of people coming and going on the public access next to the house...but it wasn't really enough to dampen our stay in any way. The overall condition of the house is slowly falling apart and is NOT being maintained. The house was not as clean as it should be (cobwebs, dirty ceiling fans, etc.). When paying top dollar for a property like this, it would have been nice to walk away feeling like EVERY penny spent was worth it.

Made for an amazing wedding getaway

We stayed at this location for a wedding and the location alone was worth every penny. Amazing backdrop and easy access to the beach made this trip one to remember. It was great having enough rooms and kitchen setups to handle all our family in one home. The few things I would suggest for improvements would be more ceiling fans (especially in the bedrooms) and for the rooms on the lowest level to have some kind of dressers for clothes storage. Other than that there was some wear and tear on the stairs to the beach but I imagine that's hard to upkeep in Florida weather. The house was clean and provided practically everything we needed. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Family Vacation at The Mirage July-August 2023

This was our first large family vacation. We had 6 adults and 7 children (2-12 year olds and 9, 7, 6, 3, 1 year olds). The king size bed and queen bedrooms on the main floor were a little tight but the small living area and kitchen was perfect. A plus with 2 washers and dryers. The 1 and 3 year olds stayed in the king bedroom with their parents, they made it work. Each had its own bathroom, small but nice. Easy access to the pool and beach.
The second floor bunk beds were perfect for the rest of the kids. Main kitchen and dining/living area nice with a beautiful ocean view. 3rd floor had great large bathroom and beautiful balcony view.
The location was perfect, chairs and umbrellas were complimentary and set up each day on the beach front. I never used the backpack chairs I rented. The stairs to the beach could use some repairs. The beach area was beautiful, not packed.
We rented 2- 6 seater golf carts, perfect for close restaurants and site-seeing.
I would recommend this place, lovely location and access to the beach. It was very clean and the rental personnel very attentive and friendly.

Beautiful house

We had a great time at The Mirage. The pool was great and beach access was phenomenal. Our only complaints were the balconies were not fully accessible to us due to some structural concerns that we were told would be fixed. However, the lumber wasn't delivered until we were leaving on our last day. Also, the listing said there was a pullout sofa bed on the second floor (which we needed) but it had been removed prior to our stay. Overall we had a great time. Fortunately, we are an easy going group and rolled with the flow. But be sure to ask lots of questions before you get there.

Wonderful Stay on the 30A!

We had a wonderful stay at The Mirage off the 30A. Beautiful home! The location is very close to Alys Beach, & Rosemary Beach (under a mile away), and Seaside/Watercolor is about a 7 mile bike ride away. This is our second time vacationing in the Destin area, and staying off the 30A is the best! We had stayed in Destin last year, but will only stay off the 30A in the future. It was an entirely different experience, with charming beach towns, stunning bike rides, and beautiful scenery everywhere. In contrast the other areas outside of the 30A look congested, full of high rises, junky looking commercial buildings, and remind us of Myrtle Beach. It’s a shame they were allowed to build up like that along this treasured coast. The private beach at The Mirage is dreamy, and one of the most beautiful we’ve been to. Couldn’t believe how empty the beach was on Spring Break, but maybe it was due to the cooler weather that week. The water and sand were the incredible color you see in Destin pictures, & even with the 70 degree days we enjoyed swimming in the ocean. Being from San Diego the water temp was warm in comparison to the West coast. We loved having a heated pool, especially since the highs were 65 to 72 most of our week. We had them set it to the highest temp it goes (90F) which was perfect for us. TIPS: Spend a day exploring all the bike paths in Watercolor (right next to Seaside) around the lake and homes. We went there 3 times during our week and it was by far our favorite area on the 30A. This one is a must do. At one point we even loaded up our bikes into my minivan and drove them up to Watercolor so we didn’t have to keep doing the long ride to it. We parked at the WaterColor LakeHouse and saw bike rentals around there too. Seaside next door to Watercolor is another great stop we biked to several times, and I recommend watching the Truman Show movie before visiting it since it was filmed there, & there are several fun spots to visit from the film. Seaside has many cute food trucks to try out, & we enjoyed the shaved ice, melted cheese sandwiches, & crepes. Grayton State Park and TopSail State Park were also nice to explore by bike, but I do not recommend taking little ones on the bike trails. Our one speed beach cruisers made it tough traversing on the sandy root filled trails and it was a good work out. Navarre Beach is worth the drive to visit this beautiful National Park, and there is a great hole in the wall burger joint called “Tops” we loved in that area. Our guys had fun sea fishing, so plan to bring any equipment for that if desired. If we had more vacation time, I would have loved kayaking or paddle boarding some of the lake and inlet areas off the 30A. Baytowne Wharf is another fun spot to drive to, and we loved the hot fudge sundaes at Moo LaLa if you are driving up to Destin. BIKES Plan to ride bikes! Part of the 30A experience is riding between all the cute beach towns, & exploring the trails. Peddlers Pavilion is a short walk away in Seacrest Beach to rent bikes, but there are many places that deliver and pick up from the house on the 30A or Destin area as well. We’ve done Coastal Cruisers on past trips to Destin. *TIP*- Highly recommend getting an upgraded beach cruiser bike with multi speeds and handle brakes if possible because most of the rentals out there are cheap quality with slow foot brakes. Some of us in the group loved riding every day of the trip, and wished we had paid for a nicer bike (or brought my own Electra 10 speed beach cruiser). When using the Vacayzen credit that comes with the rental, do not choose the bike option. All 4 bikes that were delivered were not good quality, and very tough to ride. It’s worth paying extra for quality bikes with a different rental company. Wish we had done paddle boards, or the beach bonfire s’mores option instead. The house had a paddle board we loved using, so I recommend renting another one if you have a large group that would enjoy that. We bought some inflatable donuts for the pool, and ocean. DINING Off the 30A: We had to try the Old Florida Fish House after seeing how beautiful the setting is, and the ambiance is magical there. Make sure to dine outdoors, and choose a time with good weather. Incredible service, and speediest meal we’ve ever had! The food was good but it’s more about the experience of it overall. Valet parking at this location. Food trucks in Seaside: Shaved ice (“Frosted Bites”), Crepes, and the Grilled Cheese truck. In Destin/Miramar Beach area: Fat Clemenza’s was our favorite meal of the trip. The garlic knots, cheese ravioli’s with Vodka sauce, and Margarita Pizza were all amazing. Will be eating here every trip! Burrito Del Sol has two locations, and both times we dined here loved everything. We did the shrimp and fish tacos. Get extra guacamole and queso for the chips. Pedros Mexican Restaurant was also fantastic. Loved the setting, & reminded of us San Diego. Grimaldi's is great for a pizza night. Ft. Walton: Al’s Beachclub Parlor doughnuts PACK: We wasted time running back and forth to the grocery store for items the house didn’t have so I hope this list helps someone else. The Publix is in a nice area close to the house, but prices seemed higher than normal so any spices or food items are better bought beforehand if driving. There is also a Wal-Mart nearby. Here is a shopping list of some basics to pack in the car or buy upon arrival, and some other items I loved having. Having read the reviews, I knew some of those items already: Toilet Paper Paper Towels Tall Garbage bags Laundry soap & fabric softener sheets Dishwasher soap Measuring cups and spoons Potato masher Foil Ziplock bags or plastic wrap Extra Hangers for closets (I bought some and left them for the next guest to enjoy in the master bedroom) Beach Towels Extra bath towels and wash cloths OPTIONAL-Extras I packed to make the trip nice: Foam hand soaps for the bathroom Paper plates, cups, napkins Card games and board games for a rainy day Extra pillow cases, blanket, and my own pillow Corn Hole Game Sharpie pen to label cups and water bottles Waffle maker Beach chairs if you need more than the 4 that come with the rental Fishing gear Pool/ocean inflatables There were plenty of pots and pans (almost too many in several different places of the kitchen), but things like the crock pot were too small for our big group. We had to make space in the cupboards to put our food away because there were too many items placed in spaces we needed. I also wish I had my own Dyson vacuum from home to better keep the floors clean because the vacuum in the closet did not work at all on the wood floors (just spits out the debris). HOME: This home is literally right off the 30A in the older section of Seacrest Beach, so not within a newer development of homes with courts or side streets (Seacrest beach has two different sections). The bike path is right there, which was really convenient, and we did not notice any car noise from the road. When the pool heater stopped working, they were very prompt at getting maintenance out to fix it right away both times I called. They also refunded me the two days we didn’t have heat in the pool for Easter weekend. The pool did have a funny sounding filter that sounded like a ventilator which was kind of annoying, but other than that we really enjoyed the pool. There was some confusion over whether we were getting 2 chairs or 4 chairs with the complimentary Dillon’s service because the website info says something different than the e-mailed information, & Benchmark wasn’t sure when I called them twice about it beforehand. I can confirm that 4 chairs came with the vacation rental, and were set up by Dillon’s service each day. We also brought our own Tommy Bahama chairs for the rest of our guests. I had also seen in some past reviews about a public beach access trail next to The Mirage for nearby condos that surprised them, but we didn’t notice anything like that. The Mirage has its own private staircase, fenced in backyard, and path down to the beach. There are private homes on each side of it, and the condos are a little further down. I assumed the path was private next to the house on the other side of the fence (or gated with a code), because there was nobody on it while we were there. There are some simple updates that could be done by the property owner that would make this a 5 Star Property. There are several outdoor areas of rusted door locks, & outdoor touch up paint needed on the back of the house. The indoor metal filter screens need to be painted over or replaced because they were very rusted. When you are looking at this beautifully updated home and decor, those kinds of smaller things really stand out. Most of the home interior looks recently renovated, and decorated with a cute beach theme, but the master shower tile is still outdated and doesn’t match the newer sink cabinet (and the rug doesn’t match). The shower head was too small, which would be a simple thing to change out for a larger shower head that would make a big difference in there. Reorganizing the kitchen cupboards so that there are empty pantry spaces for people to put food would also be helpful. Switching the gravel driveway to pavers would really upgrade the curb appeal, and also adding in more landscaping. The home has lovely beach decor, however the main living room light/fan looks very out of place (industrial looking), and not in keeping with the beach theme. There are just a few odd things like that around the home, including giant white glass cherries on the coffee table instead of seashells for example. Overall this is a beautiful home with many current updates, stunning beach, nicely decorated, & we would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful!! Great house with great space. Having the pool and beach was amazing .. beds were very comfortable. The staff came right away every time we called to heat the pool or with a request. The only downfall is our internet did not work the whole time we were there. Many of us needed to work and had to go to a coffee shop. Not a big deal but would’ve been nice to have it working for convenience.

Beautiful views

House is right on 30A pull in driveway a bit of construction on both sides.
Easy access to house. Upon entering and going upstairs it is beautifully redone. All windows looking at ocean. Furniture is very nice and comfortable. Bathrooms a plenty. Refrigerator water ice not working outside pool is very nice and it was heated for us for a small fee. Walk down to beautiful beach from stairs.

Great house and beach location for a week of family fun!

The Mirage is a beautiful home in a great location. Even though it is right next to public beach access, it never felt crowded or noisy. The home has a great floor plan for multiple families, and the main kitchen/living area is spacious. The pool area is nice and private with a peaceful waterfall that gives a relaxing break from the beach. The views from the 2nd and 3rd floor decks are beautiful, and finding a paddleboard and several boogie boards was a great surprise for the kids! Would definitely stay here again!

Mirage is great!

Mirage was a wonderful house for a three generation vacation. It is prettier than the pictures. Very well appointed in the kitchen. Very clean. Our only suggestion would be to have more than one hook in each bathroom. The pool is a very nice size, unlike many others that are more a plunge pool. The grandkids could really play in it. Benchmark Management was very nice and professional to work with. My texts were addressed promptly and a very small maintenance issue was immediately taken care of. The location very convenient to 30A communities and a short bicycle ride to Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach.

May Family Vacay

We enjoyed our family vacation and were so sad to leave. This home is great for multiple couples and each family slept on a separate floor.. We were thankful for the comfortable beds as well! The great room was large enough for us to visit with very comfortable furniture. The balcony has gulf and pool views and came in handy for those staying with a baby during nap time. We also enjoyed eating our meals up there instead of fighting long waits at restaurants. So, we ordered and picked up from our favorite spots and ate dinner with gorgeous sunset views!
Having the private pool was a huge plus with waterfall sounds that are soothing poolside. There is a beach access right beside this unit, but the beach setup people made sure our 4 umbrellas and 8 chairs were front and center. We would definitely stay here again!

Everything about our stay at The Mirage was amazing . The location was perfect ,
pool was nice to use in the evenings . The house had been updated & was
beautiful, having the extra kitchen was a plus like having a separate apt. Plenty of room for 14 & never felt cramped . . Benchmark was very helpful with a couple of small issues we had .

Family Vacay 2020

Out trip was a gift to our 4 children for Christmas. We thought at one point it wasn’t going to happen with all the COVID-19 going on but it did and everyone was so ready to get out of town. The house was great and set up perfect for our families. It was in a great location and close enough for the teens to bike to the Hub in one direction and Rosemary the other. Loved having the pool and our private walkway down to the beach!

Vacation Perfection

This house has been beautifully updated. We were 3 families and we fit very well without feeling cramped. It was pure joy to see our 5 grandchildren play in the surf at the beach and in the pool. This house is next to a public beach access. Not my first choice but we enjoyed everyone we met on the beach.
The pots and pans in the kitchen were better than what we have experienced from other rentals. I always bring a few of my own anyway. Well stocked kitchen. Benchmark was excellent. They are a top quality company.

Lovely Updated Beachfront rental

This newly updated home was one of my favorites I have rented on 30A. The kitchen, bathrooms, and living spaces are now modern and comfortable. Excellently stocked in the kitchen with a regular coffee maker and a Keurig. Having 2 fridges, 2 ovens, and 2 dishwashers is something unique and very useful. Lots of towels in the bathrooms. Bring a few board games for a rainy day.

Mirage's location (easily bike to Alys / Rosemary and 10 minute car ride to Seaside) is ideal. Only a few private homes surround this rental, so the beach is not crowded and only 20 stairs away. The pool area was great for entertaining.

We rented Bikes using our credit from Benchmark and we rented backpack beach chairs from The Rental Shop 30A - great experiences with both companies. The bedroom set up is nice for 4 couples or 2-3 families. The door in between the 2nd floor master and bunk room is very thin.

Benchmark does a fantastic job responding to calls and email and any issue that arose were quickly handled. I appreciate that they do a walk through prior to your arrival which ensure everything is in place. I will rent from Benchmark again for our next trip to 30 A.

Better than advertised

The house had some recent updates and was better than the pictures! It was absolutely perfect for our group of 9 girls- more than enough space to spread out. Very clean. Having 2 fridges was a plus. The pool was nice and awesome to be right on the beach and not have to carry stuff too far. Would definitely recommend.

Family Get-Away

13 of us stayed for a week, and we had a blast. There is a lot to like about this place: location, plenty of space, heated pool, views, and plenty of beach toys. However, when we stayed in Spring 2019 it had an “under construction” feel to it with missing wall plates, missing door handles, missing air vents, bathroom half remodeled, etc. For the luxury price, it lacked the luxury feel. It is an upgrade from the pictures, but not quiet finished.

Wonderful Week on the Beach

The Mirage is a wonderful house. The location was fabulous, beach front, right on 30A with bike trail. The house had been recently refurbished, plenty of room for everyone. Nice sized pool that was refreshing after a day on the beach. The pool needs a little attention, water feature was only half flowing. Had a problem with the oven in the main kitchen but management company replaced within a day. Good service from them.
Our whole family was able to stay very comfortably in the house. Four separate couples and four young children-plenty of room for entertainment.
The weather was great most of the week and the beach was pristine. Loved our t beach vacation and will return.

Life's a Beach

The home is the perfect setting. Didn't realize the public access is located right next door, however it posed zero problem. Great views, nice furnishings, comfortable home. Needs some TLC, but I understand a new owner is in place and that should do it. Our large family had a wonderful time!

Best Family Vacation Ever !

First of all, the pictures do not do this home justice! The living area is so beautiful and the view is beyond expectations! The furnishings are both high end & e xtremely comfortable & it is obvious that they have been recently replaced ! And the master on the 3rd floor —- it looks like an ad out of Pottery Barn — so beautiful & tasteful !

So many positives about this home - location , pool , furnishings , management company . This home will not disappoint!!

Amazing Spring Break House

After four years of spending spring break together, we may have found the perfect house! Housing 8 people (2 families of 4), we are always looking for something to make everyone happy. The Mirage had it! Plenty of room, lovely decor, comfortable furniture & bedding and the perfect location...with a pool! The kids loved hopping on the bikes provided and riding to nearby stores and ice cream shops. We loved being so close to many restaurants and activities, but not in the middle of the crowds of Seaside or Rosemary or Panama City. The view is amazing! Being able to get right to the beach from our backyard was the best! It is obvious the owners are working on upgrading, as all the furniture and decor seemed new. There are a few minor maintenance items that need to be addressed (paint, repairs to walls new doors), but they are not big enough to keep us away. We are looking forward to staying at The Mirage again soon!

Didn't want to leave

We had a wonderful time at the Mirage. The location was perfect--steps from the beach with great balconies for morning coffee and drinks at sunset. We enjoyed having bikes to explore nearby and our own pool for relaxing. The palm trees and flowers around the pool gave the place a nice tropical feeling. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of seating for meals. The master bedroom was especially nice. The management company was very helpful and responsive to our needs. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

Great Vacation Rental, Some Maintenance Needed

Overall, we were very pleased with the rental. The property needs a bit of touchup, but that could be ascribed to the fact it was up for sale, and indeed apparently during our stay there, it was sold or changed hands.

Location is fantastic, plus the sunset views from the 3rd floor. It was well-equipped.

Main problem encountered was the Internet going out while we were there, which necessitated some hours of work on my part, plus having Mediacom come in and fix it. During my work on the Internet, I found that a couple of the TVs in the house weren't even hooked up, which I took care of. The management company was pretty responsive, and they agreed to heat the pool for free (although I don't recall that we were supposed to pay for that - the ad said heated pool), in compensation for the problems with the Internet.

Overall, we had a great week there.
