30-A Communities WOW with Weekday Events to Kick Off the Summer Season
Posted on Tuesday, July 1, 2014
June 21st marked the beginning of summer and the start of new events to entertain the thousands of tourists that are making their way along the Emerald Coast. Considering that local families with children and visiting families are taking weeks off at a time to peruse the white sands of places like Seaside, Seagrove and Seacrest- weekday entertainment has become an absolute must.
Thanks to the Gulf breezes and glowing sunshine that characterize the Gulf of Mexico region most events will be al fresco. For example, the Seaside Summer Concert Series begins July 3rd and continues all summer in the Seaside Amphitheater every Wednesday at 7 pm. Families are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets for an evening of live music under the stars. Garrett Realty Services will be providing week long accommodation specials for visitors looking to explore the region.
Seaside, FL will also host sand master Mark Flynn each Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 2 pm. Anyone with a creative spirit is invited to attend his free sand sculpting class located next to the Pizza Bar. The continued tradition of sand art has become a unique way to experience the rare properties of the quartz-derived sand of the Gulf beaches.
The community of Rosemary Beach, FL has some extra flare planned for the sunny rays that shower its streets. North Barrett Square will be the setting for live theatrical performances and musical interludes each Monday and Wednesday during most of the summer months. Monday’s show, Peter and the Wolf- Prokofiev's classic musical tale- will be brought to life by the Sinfonia woodwind quintet at 7pm. This enchanting production will be complete with vivid musical characterizations that highlight the beloved score.
Androcles and the Lionwill be Wednesday’s signature performance put on by The REP at 6:30 pm. Children will delight to see a singing mouse, an escaped servant and a voracious lion come together in an unlikely trio of friends in this heartwarming show.
