Panhandle Outdoors

Learn about the barrier island system, the Santa Rosa Sound, marine mammals, plankton, sea turtles and coastal processes on Navarre Beach at the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station. Kayak with ease along the sound, walk along the Gulf of Mexico and learn about the western Panhandle coastal environment. This series of field trips from the University of Florida/IFAS Extension faculty are for Panhandle residents to explore and learn about the Panhandle's signature aquatic resources and the plant and animal communities they support.

The expedition schedule is as follows:
November 14: Hiking at Torreya State Park

Each day starts at 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST or 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Depending on location, moderate walking, hiking, swimming and/or paddling may be involved. Lunch, park entry fees and rentals will be provided for each participant (18 and up only) at a cost of $30 per class.
