What’s to Eat in Gulf Place

Gulf Place is a charming community nestled across from the beach on the corner of 30A and Highway 393. The town center has a little bit of everything so visitors can make one stop for the day. Along with beach rentals, and a few upscale boutiques, Gulf Place has a great variety of places for you and the family to eat. Since a few places have come and gone in recent years, here is an overview of what’s open now.

The Perfect Pig serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a full bar available. Pulled pork is a popular item but the grilled cheese sandwiches are a MUST. The bread is “Parmesan Crusted” and goes way beyond your average grilled cheese. Grouper Tacos and the House Quiche are also tasty dishes but from what we can tell, you won’t be disappointed no matter what you order. They just put out a Fall menu and have Taco & Tequila Tuesdays starting at 6pm with BOGO Tequila drinks. Our only tip is there’s usually a bit of a wait to eat so don’t plan on going when you’re in a hurry.

The owner of Perfect Pig recently opened Deep South Market & Deli, also in Gulf Place. Gourmet food items are available for purchase as well as personalized gifts. Jeni’s salted caramel ice cream is perhaps the most popular option as it sold out the first day of opening. Along with gourmet groceries and an extensive wine selection, fresh salads and made to order paninis are offered. It’s the perfect spot to grab a picnic lunch for the beach or a gift for a loved one!

La Playa sits right on the corner with indoor and outdoor seating offering coastal cuisine with a Caribbean twist. Fried oysters and empanadas are available for starters and fish tacos or po boys can be ordered for your entrée. You can also never go wrong with the La Playa Burger, which is our favorite. When you aren’t listening to the waves from the Gulf, live music is often performed onsite.

Pizza By the Sea is on the opposite corner in Gulf Place with a dining patio over the town center. Pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches are all available including Gluten-free and lower-carb options. Bring your own bottle of wine or purchase some there as well as beer and retro sodas. Try the Cha Cha Chipotle pizza or go all out with the Spaghetti & Meatballs pizza.

Sunrise Coffee Company offers breakfast, lunch, and desserts along with the cutest merchandise. Pastries, wraps, and sandwiches are available as well ice cream by the cup or cone. To-go pouches of Dippin Dots are also sold, making it a favorite stop for the kids.

If you aren’t too full from making the rounds, Gulf Place is only steps away from the beach! Before heading back to your 30a vacation rental, walk down and watch the sunset. Live music, art galleries, and seasonal festivals are also common to Gulf Place making it the place to be in Santa Rosa Beach.
